This new breed of Freshers’ Fair invites smaller local businesses to promote themselves without being engulfed by the monotony of Bristol’s super clubs and fast food chains. The cities new (and old) blood will be treated to DJs, the finest street food and vendors.

A variety of stalls including, favourites such as The Louisiana, Betties & Baldwins and eclectic video boutique 20th Century Flicks will all be in attendance with many offers and freebies to whet your appetite for the coming academic year.

The Alternative Freshers’ Fair is open to both UWE and UoB students and event organiser and Thekla promotions manager Pat Somers said: “The students at Bristol and UWE are always fantastic, and I can’t wait to welcome them on board our good ship for another academic year, whether it’s their first time with us, or their third or fourth!”

This free event runs from 2pm until 7pm, and it is advised that you get there early to avoid any queues, armed with valid NUS cards.
