A recent study (Independent Article) interestingly advises that without work experience you may find securing your dream graduate job more difficult and could impede your future career progression. Statistics show you are 75% more likely to gain your dream first job if you have successfully engaged in a work placement, work experience or internship, whilst at university.

Hannah Newmarch, Head of Employer Partnership Services at UWE Bristol highlights High Fliers Research who found that one-third of graduate vacancies available are expected to be taken by people who have already worked for a firm while they were studying.

She states: “Don’t fall into the trap of only worrying about your career as you finish your degree; there are numerous opportunities available to you  now which will enhance your CV including internships, placements, enterprise and volunteering opportunities. Our upcoming UWE Bristol “Meet the Employers” Careers Fair series are an absolute must to attend for that first point of contact between key employers and you.”
