The WesternEye Annual General Meeting (AGM) is to be held on Wednesday 11th February at 2pm in room 2Q49 on Frenchay Campus. This will be an opportunity to have your say on who represents your voice next year. Editor and President of the WesternEye Society
The Editor-in-Chief has responsibility to oversee all areas of WesternEye’s content and development. As an independent newspaper, the editor will protect WesternEye from external pressures and make decisions confidently. Editor is a demanding and fulfilling role. The candidate will be dedicated and passionate and have their finger on the pulse of UWE and local news. It is essential that the candidate is able to meet deadlines, successfully delegate, and communicate effectively with inside and outside parties.

Assistant Editor and Vice President of the WesternEye Society
The Assistant Editor will support the Editor in all aspects of the newspaper’s daily running, including liaising with section editors and ensuring deadlines are met and quality is consistent. The Assistant Editor will support the Editor in running society events, meetings and training and help organise the design and proof-reading team.
Marketing and Finance Manager and Treasurer
The Marketing and Finance Manager will be in charge of overseeing all of the societies funding and newspaper’s running costs, and will be on the fore-front of generating advertising revenue enable WesternEye to print monthly copies. An exciting role for anyone who seeks a career in marketing or finance, the ideal candidate will be highly organised, a good communicator and confident at approaching potential advertisers.
Assistant Marketing and Finance Manager
The assistant marketing and finance manager will support the marketing and finance manager in all aspects of overseeing the budget and generating advertising revenue. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, a good communicator and confident at approaching potential advertisers.
Online Editor and Participation and Equality Officer
The Online Editor is responsible for timely and efficient content editing and publishing. The Online Editor will liaise closely with section editors and the Assistant Online Editor to ensure that content is published daily, as well as being in charge of managing WesternEye’s social media channels to encourage participation and increase WesternEye’s presence.
Assistant Online Editor
The Assistant Online Editor will support the online editor in the thorough proof-reading, editing and uploading of online articles in a timely and professional manner, ensuring deadlines are met and quality is consistent online. They will also support the online editor by producing online campaigns and posting to social media regularly.
Westworld Art and Fashion Editor
Westworld Editor has the responsibility to liaise with a team of writers, reporters and photographers to create content for online and the monthly newspaper. The Art and Fashion Editor is to work closely with the Westworld Music and Entertainment Editors to ensure that content and design is consistent and complements the Music and Entertainment content.
Assistant Westworld Art and Fashion Editor
Assistant Westworld Art and Fashion Editor will work closely with the Westworld Art and Fashion Editor to liaise with writers and reporters and ensure content is edited and submitted in a timely and efficient manner. The role requires excellent communication and an eye for detail.
Section editors are responsible for the creation of content by liaising with a team of writers, reporters and photographers, arranging interviews and coordinating attendance at events. They will offer advice to writers where necessary and ensure that work is edited to a high standard before submission to print and online. Good communication and attendance to monthly meetings is vital to ensure that standards remain consistent between sections.

Head of Proofreading
The Head of Proofreading will be responsible to coordinate a team of proof-readers and ensure that all articles are proof-read to the highest professional standards. The role requires delegation, organisational skills and a sharp eye for detail.
Head of Design
The Head of Design will be responsible to coordinate a small team of designers for one week every month to ensure consistency throughout the paper. Excellent communication skills are paramount to ensure the newspaper is produced to a professional quality each month. Experience of InDesign and other graphics software is essential.
As a designer, you will work closely with a team of designers for one week each month and report to the head of design. Good communication is essential, and experience of InDesign and other graphics software is preferred.
