> UWESU’s SRC Vice President updates on her last month in office.
Wow UWE it’s been an eventful first semester! I can’t believe Christmas is fast approaching and the half-way point of our year in office.
A lot has been achieved so far but fear not more is to come J. We have seen fantastic engagement so far across the Students’ Union this year; from our biggest ever Fresher’s, at our councils, from our student reps and of course at AGM. You guys have shown that you really do care about your Students’ Union and give us as presidents so much inspiration and ideas.
Next semester I will be continuing to work on 2 big issues for students, timetabling and blackboard. We know from your feedback that both can be rather hit and miss so I will be taking your issues forward to the people in charge to get things improved.
I will also be planning a student-led teaching award, something that has worked really well at other Students’ Unions. Basically students nominate the lecturers you think deserve recognition and deliver the best in teaching and learning, a student panel decides who the short-list and winners are and we give them a shiny prize to thank them for all they do for students. Keep your eyes peeled for more details.
Also March starts to look a lot closer after Christmas which means only one thing at UWESU, elections! It’s never too early to start thinking about running for a position and this year looks to be particularly exciting with the new constitution now ratified. If you have any questions about running for a position don’t hesitate to get in touch for all the gory details!
