Sunday 14th February 2010 7.00pm
02 Academy Bristol, Frogmore Street, Bristol.
With a line up that can open with 2010’s vital breathe of fresh air, The Drums, this is a show not to miss out on.
Fresh from their 2009 success from album ‘Wall of Arms’, The Maccabees stand tall as headliners of what is set to be one of the principal tours of 2010, hitting many major cities across the UK.
Amid a Line up that consists of four of the most vital bands on the Indie scene at the moment, The Drums, The Big Pink, Bombay Bicycle Club and of course The Maccabees, tickets are selling fast and word spreading twofold.
The refreshing start that 2010 needed, and an antidote to indie clones of 2009, The Drums, with their release ‘Summertime EP’ , which includes the captivating song ‘Let’s go surfing’, should provide for a perfect first helping of indie pop for fans as the New York band tour the UK for the first time.
2009’s Muse tour support ‘The Big Pink’ are sure to carry on the example The Drums set with their new release ‘A Brief History of Love’ proving they have what it takes to be on this line-up. And with their track ‘Dominoes’ reaching number two in the UK indie charts, a ‘sing-along’ is inevitable.
Next up a band that has blown me away live on numerous occasions, most recently at Thekla last December, London’s ‘Bombay Bicycle Club’. Hailing from London, BBC are one of the finest distinct acts of recent years. I can assure you that this act is worth a listen, no questions asked.
And finally to our headliners, a band that acquired their name by flicking and picking a random word from the bible: The Maccabees. Any band deemed fit enough to headline this show are obviously of high standard, and The Maccabees are unequalled. Providing numerous classics such as ‘Latchmere’ and ‘No Kind Words’ it’s no wonder that The Maccabees have failed to leave my ‘most played list’ for over a year. Live or on record, I guarantee they won’t let you down.
A fantastic chance to see four of 2010’s most vital bands that everybody’s talking about.
Don’t miss out!
