Throughout university, you are being bombarded with careers presentations and questions of what your next step is- why not make that next step becoming a famous movie star? Open auditions for two lead roles for the next film in the Star Wars franchise will begin in Bristol later this week. By Jayde Smyth

The lead role descriptions are rather vague, calling for a “street smart and strong” orphaned girl in her late teens and a “smart capable” man in his early twenties. It’s thought the descriptions were purposely inexplicit to avoid major spoilers about the movie after the auditions were first published on twitter account @UKOpenCall under the rouse of a “major Hollywood movie.”

Bristol will be the first of four audition locations, London, Dublin, and Glasgow, and will be held at the Arnolfini Arts Centre on Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 3pm.

In 2012 Disney took over the previous Star Wars production company Lucasfilm and will be holding auditions in the US as well as here in the UK. Lucasfilm have kept things close to their chests regarding the characters names and personalities, which isn’t unusual for the company as they were tight lipped even in the original casting calls.

Star Wars is due to begin filming in 2014 in Pinewood Studios. If a Jedi you want to become, audition you will. (That was a very bad Yoda impression.)
