An Olympic inspired art project called My Culture has been created this year at UWE to celebrate the 2012 Olympics. The project brings focus to the culture of sports and the Olympic values through the use of creative arts. The beginning of this term has seen a number of street arts, sculptures and internal displays all over Frenchay campus. A range of student artists were asked to create art pieces, which demonstrate the Olympic and Paralympic values. The campaign seeks to change the culture of sport at UWE, and to help people see that sport is not just for ‘sporty’ people, but for people of all religions, ethnicities, lifestyles and cultures. The art pieces will be around Frenchay Campus for the next year to help students see sport in a new light, to shift their perceptions of who can engage in sport and to bring colour to the campus.
