Societies - A Guide To The Unknown

D'Yon Peoples

While the names of some societies are self-explanatory (Aerospace, Anime, Racing), there are others which are mysteries even for third year students.

 

Below are brief explanations of those societies which are not exactly ‘all in the name’:

Archaos-For design students who want to go further into their design interests, curiosities and passions. The meetings are at Arnolfini, so you have access to coffee and art.

Bar School-For students interested in mixology (the science of making drinks) and flair (the art of performance while making drinks). You can even compete in flair tournaments!

LINKS (St. Johns Ambulance)-Provides first aid training for students and first aid in communities and on campus.

Real Ale-For people who “love a proper drink and a proper pub”. Socials at Bristol’s finest pubs and brewery tours.

Respect-Student society and national political movement that campaigns for free education, basic human rights and against war and Imperialism.

S.P.I.E.S.-Society of Political, International and European studies. For anyone with a passion about politics, the E.U. or the international system.

Scouts and Guides (SAGUWE)-For students who want to experience a myriad of activities, including climbing, rifle shooting, camping, abseiling, archery, bowling, and kayaking.

Shorinji Kempo-A form of martial arts that includes philosophy, breathing, meditation, massage and martial techniques. Focusing on developing your mind and body.

SWSS- Actively campaign for peace, environmental sustainability, public services, free education for all, solidarity, equality and other current world issues.

Urban-For DJ, singers, and other musical talents who want to showcase their skills at nightclubs in and around the South West.

Western Footlights-For students who want to celebrate the art of comedy, attend comedy shows and have a good laugh along the way.
