He likes karting and football, he would watch Braveheart over and over again, he plays Eminem on his Ipod and he craves for a Pizza or a Haagen Dazs Cookies and Cream after every match. We’re obviously talking about one of the most famous tennis player in this land, if not the only one: Andy Murray.

The mens novice VIII+ Boat team won their first medals of the year at the Monmouth Christmas Head of the River race on Sunday 13th December. Tom Dewhurst, Elliot Clark, Jack Peckham, Adam Kenny, Nick Preston, Alan Morgan, Eleanor Ellis (cox) and Deyan Kenspl were all part of the winning outfit. |

Ross Brawn secured his eighth Constructors’ Title and Jenson Button won the Formula 1 racing championship on Saturday 18th October – with no help from Lady Luck.
Ross is an engineer who graduated in 1976 and for his first job had to settle for operating a lathe. It took him fifteen years of hard graft before his brilliance was noticed by the owner of Benetton Racing who hired him on the cheap to improve its failing cars. UWE’s second squad of eight suffered a 5-3 defeat to the hands of Plymouth’s first team in a badminton battle at Frenchay’s Centre for Sport on Wednesday 14th October. The score was settled after eight games were played out, doubles and singles, along a line of four Badminton Courts watched by friends and travelling Plymouth supporters, but all eyes were on UWE’s Sam Issacs as he huffed and puffed but didn’t quite blow the house down in an intriguing face-to-face finale with Plymouth’s Oliver Critchton. |

The UWE boxing club was proud to take part in this years BUCS English Universities Championship hosted by Portsmouth University on 12-14th of December. The event was very well attended and was a great showcase for collegiate boxing with strong teams fielded by many universities.
